About ClauseKit

Contracts shouldn't be where good deals go to wait.

ClauseKit was built by revenue and legal-ops people who were tired of watching closed-won deals stall in redline limbo. We give sales teams a way to review, flag, and negotiate contracts at the speed business actually moves.

Our Story

Why we started ClauseKit

Our founders spent years in RevOps and legal operations, where a single MSA could sit in review for two weeks while a quarter quietly slipped away. The problem was never the lawyers — it was the missing, shared playbook between legal and the front line.

So in 2021 we set out to build the tool we always wanted: software that reads an incoming contract, compares it against your standards, and tells a rep exactly what's safe to sign and what needs to escalate.

ClauseKit isn't a contract lifecycle suite. It does one thing extremely well — making the review-and-negotiation phase fast, consistent, and safe.

Reviewing a commercial contract

What we believe about contracts

A few principles shape every decision we make.

Speed is a feature

A contract reviewed in minutes instead of days changes how fast a whole company can grow. We optimize relentlessly for time-to-signature.

Legal sets the rules

Reps move fast inside guardrails that legal defines. The playbook is theirs; ClauseKit just enforces it consistently on every deal.

Clarity over cleverness

Every flag we raise comes with a plain-English reason and a suggested next step. No black boxes, no guessing.

Win-win redlines

The goal isn't to bulldoze counterparties — it's to reach agreement faster on positions both sides can live with.

How we got here

2021

ClauseKit is founded

Two RevOps and legal-ops veterans start ClauseKit in San Francisco with one goal: stop letting paperwork kill momentum on closed deals.

2022

First design partners

We launch a private beta with a handful of B2B sales teams. Their redlines, playbooks, and edge cases shape the product into something teams actually trust.

2023

Playbook automation ships

We release configurable playbooks so legal teams can codify acceptable terms and fallback positions — and let reps self-serve standard reviews.

2024

Built into the revenue stack

Native Salesforce and HubSpot workflows land, letting reps trigger a full contract review from inside a deal record without switching tools.
